MGD 64 commercial proves it's "as light as it gets." And by "gets," I mean one-fourth of a margarita.

In March, here in the Midwest, Miller Brewing Company began rolling out MGD 64—a reformulation of its Miller Genuine Draft Light. Why is it called 64? You might be wondering for approximately .01 seconds before realizing the answer. Yes, it signifies the amount of calories contained therein. But it may or may not also signify the percentage probability that you will go to the bathroom before finishing the first 64 calories... contained therein.

Do the math: you're staring at six bottles, but only... carry the two... 384 calories. Just jog for a half hour afterward, and you're all good. With some golden, watery vomit on your favorite hoodie from college.

MGD marketing director Grant Leech gives his objective viewpoint about the beer that pays for his children's nanny and private school tuition: "Whether they are out with a group of friends or taking a break at the end of the day, MGD 64 provides all of the great beer aroma and flavor consumers want but with about 35 percent fewer calories than the typical light beer." A typical light beer like, say, Miller Lite?

Also included in the PRNewswire article about the roll-out is information about other types of alcoholic beverages, besides light beers, to which MGD 64 is a "lighter alternative." A 6.5 ounce margarita contains 246 calories -- nearly four times the calories of one MGD 64. Now you're probably thinking, No way a margarita contains quadruple the cals! The only way I would believe that is if I saw a bartender pour only one-fourth of a margarita into a margarita glass next to a bottle of MGD 64, after a fashionably dressed and fit woman in her late twenties asked for 64 calories of a margarita, after her just as fashionably dressed and fit friend just ordered the aforementioned bottle of MGD 64.

Which is exactly what Grant Leech anticipated you'd think after reading the press release quoting him. And so, in a meeting about advertising the company's newest beer, Grant pitched that very idea as his own, even though he knew it'd be your idea several months from that moment. Watch the following MGD 64 commercial featuring one-fourth of a margarita. Watch and believe!
